Sometimes we get inspired to record some of the more memorable days of trips that we have made. They serve to remind us of the things that we have done, the places we have been to and the people we have met and if we do not record them we tend to forget great chunks of the times we have spent away.
For those viewing these diaries we hope you find them interesting but they are more likely to be of interest only to our family and friends.

The Aussillon market takes places every thursday in the town, rather than the village, of Aussillon. Having spent some time trying to find the market in the village the distinction between the town and the village is well imprinted on our minds. Once we found the market we parked, probably illegally, and started to wander around. There were a lot of stalls selling shoes, clothing, curtains and a whole lot of things that we didn't need but there was also a good undercover food market. We missed the exhibition of his art which took place in Canberra a few months ago but it was much better to see it in the place of his birth. The Musee Toulouse-Lautrec is in the precincts of the cathedral and consists of three rooms of his art. The room which contained his art of the brothels in Paris was fascinating. Hautpoul is a small village on a rocky peak overlooking the town of Mazamet in the department of Tarn.  It is believed to have been founded in 413 by a Visigoth king and is considered as the entrance to the Montagne Noire and its vast forests.  The village provides a view into the world of the medieval settlement and how they lived and worked. It is... + details

After a rest and shower at the hotel in preparation for the twenty hour journey to Mazamet we set off for the airport for the 2355 pm flight to Toulouse via Frankfurt. Two things worried us: the first was the changeover time of one hour at Frankfurt and the second was the transport from Toulouse to Mazamet. Fortunately both went without a hitch. The flight to Frankfurt arrived thirty minutes early which gave a us plenty of time to walk what seemed like a couple of miles to gate A68 where we took the bus to the aircraft. For a moment I thought we were being driven to Toulouse since the bus... + details
