Sometimes we get inspired to record some of the more memorable days of trips that we have made. They serve to remind us of the things that we have done, the places we have been to and the people we have met and if we do not record them we tend to forget great chunks of the times we have spent away.
For those viewing these diaries we hope you find them interesting but they are more likely to be of interest only to our family and friends.

The weather for our trip to Rocamadour was miserable and when we finally arrived it was shut! There were hardly any shops open and just one, or maybe two, places to eat. There was one shop that attracted Jenny's interest which had a number of beautiful teapots in the window. There were people inside but the shop seemed shut so we walked past. However on our way back we signalled to the people in the shop that we wanted to buy one of the teapots and to our surprise they opened up. We walked a little way up the hill and had dinner at the Hotel de la Poste before driving back to St. Cyprien in the dark in the campervan that we had at that time. It was a challenge since the lights on the van were faulty and flickered on and off. So our memories were more of the drama we had then than the beauty of Beynac. We drove to the top of the hill and parked close to the castle. It is a... + details

Our first trip away from Mazamet is in the Dodogne, some three and a bit hours drive to the north. We have based ourselves in Sarlat at the Le Couleuvrine hotel on the edge of the medieval centre. The hotel is well placed, but a little tired. We booked a 'superior room' but there must be super deluxe superior rooms because our room doesn't exhibit a lot of superiority. The main superior attribute is the fact that from the door into the room there are two sets of stairs to reach the room itself and then there is an internal staircase to a further level, all of which seems to be very superior.... + details

Yesterday was one of domesticity interspersed with a certain amount of eating and drinking. We haven't severed all contact with Australia, yet. The iPad, with one or two apps, is a wonderful device. Being able to track Collingwood's progress against Fremantle was a delight to behold and we will continue to monitor Collingwood's 'progress' over the coming weeks. Using the ABC iView app, coupled with another app which allows us to pretend to be in Australia, enables us to be selective in viewing some of our favourite programs.  Watching George Brandis struggle over the government's proposal... + details
